"The news"

"If you educate a man, you educate one person. If you educate a woman, you educate and liberate a whole nation" - Malcolm X.

The news I choose was “Malala Yousafzai's courage can start new movement for global education” writing by Gordon Brown in the 25th October of 2012.

Pakistani human-rights activists light c

This news it’s was written after Malala was attacked and left for dead by Talibans. Malala is a young girl of Pakistan, she is 14 years old. At the age of 11, Malala started a blog under a false name, she wrote severals articles about the right to education of women on her country. When her cover was blown and the Taliban and its sympathizers threatened her, she did’t cease her writing. In contrast she went public, so that by the age of 14 she was a name and a force to be reckoned with.

Why this news it’s important? What is the relationship with sociology? Simple, from 2011 Chilean youth have fought for better education, and it’s really shocking see a girl is shocking to see a girl fight for the inclusion of women in education.

The journalist ends his story saying: “Malala may have been silenced temporarily, but her cause can never be silenced. This wonderful young woman is fighting for her life because she fought for the right of every girl to go to school. Now we must all fight for Malala's cause”.
