How green are you?

First of all the people who are eco-friendly learning about environmentally friendly practices in different places like in the internet or in the television and also, they can inform whit their friends. Besides, I think that the people who care about environmental issues generally form groups that have the same concerns about environmental.

On the other hand, have begun to incorporate certain habits of recycling, but only a few practices, like separate the plastic or the milk cartons, also I carry glass bottles to containers in the parking of the supermarkets.  But I have to recognize that I am very lazy on recycle meaning, because requires dedication in the sense that you have to take your time to separate the garbage.

Moreover, I can say that I help to carry the environment because I don`t have a car, so a usually use my bike or I walking to university, so I do not pollute in that sense.

But, as I say, I am very lazy with respect to recycling, so I do not belong to any organization that has to do with the environment. But I always have the trepidation of belonging to Greenpeace, but I don’t have time or money to collaborate.

As I say, I contribute in reduce my carbon footprint not using a car or minimizing the use of public transport.

Finally, I think that in our society do not have the culture of respect about nature and the environment.

"The news"

"If you educate a man, you educate one person. If you educate a woman, you educate and liberate a whole nation" - Malcolm X.

The news I choose was “Malala Yousafzai's courage can start new movement for global education” writing by Gordon Brown in the 25th October of 2012.

Pakistani human-rights activists light c

This news it’s was written after Malala was attacked and left for dead by Talibans. Malala is a young girl of Pakistan, she is 14 years old. At the age of 11, Malala started a blog under a false name, she wrote severals articles about the right to education of women on her country. When her cover was blown and the Taliban and its sympathizers threatened her, she did’t cease her writing. In contrast she went public, so that by the age of 14 she was a name and a force to be reckoned with.

Why this news it’s important? What is the relationship with sociology? Simple, from 2011 Chilean youth have fought for better education, and it’s really shocking see a girl is shocking to see a girl fight for the inclusion of women in education.

The journalist ends his story saying: “Malala may have been silenced temporarily, but her cause can never be silenced. This wonderful young woman is fighting for her life because she fought for the right of every girl to go to school. Now we must all fight for Malala's cause”.

My favorite Class

My favorite class is called “Profundización a Bourdieu”. This class is imparted by professor Mª Emilia Tijoux in the department of sociology in FACSO. And it’s about an in-depth theoretical framework of Bourdieu.

Bourdieu was a French sociology, his born in Denguin, in southern France on 1 August 1930 and pass away in 2006. Bourdieu working key concepts like: 1. Field, this concept can be understood as a network of relationships 2. Cultural capital, this capital is understood as an instrument of power to the individual level in the form of a set of intellectual skills produced by the families and the school system. Is capital because it can accumulate over time. 3. Social Capital, this capital achieved through the network of relationships established by the individual. 4. Symbolic Capital, this capital is about to linguistic power. Otherwise, Bourdieu also work whit one concept called Habitus, we can understand like subjectivity that is socialized, is a structure that generating patterns of behavior. Well, Bourdieu works with a lot of concept, and for that it seems unlikely to me explain all.

This class is very important for my studies, because Bourdieu is a key author in the sociology, is considerate one of the classic in the theoretical framework of the discipline. For the same reason, this class is important in my professional life, because is very significant for my, as a sociologist know about the different working concept of Bourdieu.

Other significant roles are performed by  Helena Bonham Carter who is the wife of Tim Burton, Matthew MacGrogy and Danny DeVito among others.
